How to Import Course Content
Between Canvas courses
Each academic year (or each time a course is taught) a course gets a new course web in Canvas. The teacher can import course content from a previous course into the new course.
- How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool? Links to an external site.
- How do I select specific content as part of a course import? Links to an external site.
Course Files from Ugla
To move course files from Ugla to Canvas.
- Open your course in Ugla (the course containing the files) and go to All operations, on the right.
- Under Items, click Download all files. A zip file containing all files and folders is downloaded.
- Open your new course in Canvas (the course that is to receive the files).
- Click Files on the left and the Upload button in the top right corner.
- Select the zip file you downloaded from Ugla and click Open.
- Click Expand It to unzip the zip file.
Moodle Courses
Moodle courses from autumn 2019 and spring 2020 have been imported into Canvas. This means the Moodle courses are now Canvas courses. The teacher can use the tutorials above to import content from those courses into his new course.
If you have a Moodle course from a previous year, that you need to import into Canvas, please contact help@hi.is or check out the tutorial below.
